Hi! My name is Jan Marie Casey, and my friends and family call me Jan. I am a teacher of 21 years, mostly in the public schools. My husband and I have three children, all of whom have been taught in the public school system. We have three grandchildren.
I am presently teaching at Paul Revere Middle School in Houston Independent School District, where I teach Algebra One (for high school credit) to 7th graders and 7th grade Mathematics Tradional and Honors Level. I love teaching. One of my chief enjoyments is to realize a student has an "AHA!" and to watch the growth occur in young people.
Professionally, I enjoy being a part of the Rice University School Mathematics Project (RUSMP), a summer training project for improving the mathematics teaching in the Houston area. I am on the executive committee and am a Master Teacher with the project.
My hobbies revolve around singing in the church choir, gardening and camping. My husband and I love the Pacific Northwest and really like to vacation in that area.
