Experiment 1: Does the mealworm prefer certain colors?
Problem: Do mealworms prefer a certain color?
Hypothesis: What do you think? Will the mealworm prefer red, yellow, green, or blue? Explain your answer.
Materials:
1. Circle page
2.Crayons: red, yellow, blue, and green.
Procedure:
1. Split the circle into 4 equal parts.
2. Color each of the parts a different color. (red, yellow, blue, and green)
3. Place the worm in the center of the circle.
4. Set a watch for 20 minutes.
5. Record on the tally sheet how many times the worm crawls on each color.
Observations:
Tally Sheet
Red
Yellow
Blue
Green
Conclusions:
What was the worm's favorite color? Was your hypothesis correct? Explain your answer.
