database a collection of related information (Ex. recipes, phone book)
category one field in a record (Ex. age or zip code)
entry a single piece of data entered in a database
field a category of information in a database (Ex. name, zip code)
file collection of related records in a database (Ex. recipe cards, baseball cards)
record collection of related fields (Ex. the information about one person or one recipe)
template the outline of fields used in a database before the data is entered
