Welcome to the Hidden Hollow Official Journey North Tulip Garden Page

Our first bulb has emerged!

On January 5, 1998 the Hidden Hollow tulip garden became a reality. Before that date, the bulbs had been chilled in a refrigerator for a period of 8 weeks. Our school is located near Houston, TX in Kingwood.

January 7, 1998 was the date that had originally been planned for the planting of the bulbs. On the fifth, students were still on vacation. Teachers had returned for a workday. The weather was perfect. Later that week, the prediction called for heavy rains, colder weather, and a possible delay to planting.

Our trench had been dug during our vacation, by Jason, a scout and former student at Hidden Hollow. It was perfect! But we were soon to learn that putting dirt into a hole is almost as much work as getting it out!
