TEACHER INFORMATION

A chemical change occurs when one or more substances are changed into a new substance with its own unique and different proprties. To form a new substance bonds between parfticles are broken and new bonds are formed. Some chemical change requires that energy be absorbed while others requires that energy be given off or released.

TEACHING TIPS

1. You may want to make sure that students know the difference between degrees Celsius and degrees Farenheit. Therfore you may want to have them use the temperature conversion equations below to solve a few conversion problems.

a). To convert from degrees Celsius to degrees Farenheit.

F= (9/5 x C) = 32

b) To convert from degrees Farenheit to degrees Celsius

C = 5/9 x (F -32)

2. Review types of reactions and balancing equations.
