Monday 8/14

WHAT WORKED/DIDN’T WORK NOTES:

Objective: Welcome students

Activities:

1.       Students will make note cards with name to assist in name learning

2.       Ms. North will sign schedules while students are doing this and note pronunciation of each name

3.       Introduce myself if time permits

Materials: Pen, paper, large note cards, markers

Follow Up/HW: review names each day

 

Tuesday 8/15

WHAT WORKED/DIDN’T WORK NOTES:

Objective: Introduce syllabus, routines, expectations – discipline 

Activities:

1.       Go over names

2.       Hand-out and discuss syllabus/parent contact sheet

3.       Go over routines/expectations/discipline

4.       Brainstorm/class discussion regarding PROFESSIONALISM

5.       Hand out student profile (fill out in class if time allows)

Materials: syllabus, parent contact sheet, student profile (note-cards and markers for new students), Lesson Plan Details with photographs.

Follow Up/HW: Student profile due tomorrow (Weds) Parent contact sheet and supplies due Monday, extra credit on Friday.

v      MM specific supplies: (1) USB Memory Stick (2) spiral notebook

 

Wed/Thurs  8/16-17

WHAT WORKED/DIDN’T WORK NOTES:

Objective: Students will know the “dos” and “do-nots” of public speaking and practice

Activities:

1.       Discussion oral presentations skills (do’s and don’ts)

2.       Get to know a partner

3.       Using knowledge of public speaking, introduce friend to the class

4.       Assign collage

Materials: dry erase board and marker, pen and paper

Follow Up/HW: paperwork and collage due Monday (extra credit Friday)

 

Friday 8/18

WHAT WORKED/DIDN’T WORK NOTES:

Objective: Understand technology is everywhere

Activities:

1.       Collect paperwork and check supplies

2.       Discuss technology is everywhere (Minute Maid Park example)

3.       Break class into 4 and assign a different article to read

4.       Read, discuss with group.  Each group writes summary and presents

(REVIEW OF DOS AND DO NOTS OF SPEAKING)

Materials: Pen, paper, dry eraser/marker, folder to file papers, list to check supplies

Follow Up/HW: collage due Monday

Student profile proofed by partner – 50 points

Partner interview presentation – 50 points

Technology group work / presentation – 20 points
