2.      Discuss research and use of Wikepedia

3.      View WesternGeco Supercomputer Field Trip pictures

4.      Complete Article Presentations

Materials: Quiz, answers, computer parts, dry erase board, marker

Wed/Thur 8/23-24

Objective:

Gain hands on experience with computer parts and operating systems

Activities:

1.      Quiz types of computers

2.      Go to Alan Duncan’s room for hands on tutorial from his kids

3.      View Karen North’s computer museum

4.      Collect and Organize Grade DATA

5.      Supply / Journal Check

6.      If time – introduce operating systems – brief history

Materials: Quiz, answers, dry erase board, marker

Follow Up/HW: no homework

 

Friday 8/25

WHAT WORKED/DIDN’T WORK NOTES:

Objective: ID input and output devices and system unit

Activities:

  1. Review Part of Computer Handout from Mr. Duncan and review Powerpoint on Basics
  2. Brainstorm list of input, output devices, and system units with partner
  3. Class discussion with show & tell using computer parts in room Matching game (as quiz? Or tomorrow?)

Materials: overhead projector, laptop, dry erase marker & board,

Follow Up/HW: Begin work on review packet – due Wednesday before test
