FOCUS CONNECTIONS to T.V. Shows:

·         Play “Lights, Cameras, Action” by the Wiggles while showing Personal Wiggles Concert Photos

 

GOAL:

·         Motivate students to want think and learn about using computers so they can communicate information through graphics and text.

 

INPUT:

1.       Photos of my daughter and grandson at Wiggles concert, rude child on father’s shoulders, Wiggles stage design

2.       Introduce myself and survey students on computer knowledge

3.       Oh the Thinks you can Think” by Dr. Seuss.

 

PROCESS:

1.       Discuss sharing ideas with pictures - take class picture.

2.       Discuss Ethics and Computer Ethics – talk about manners and child in the way at concern.  Connect to manners using the computers, keyboard, mouse and classroom rules.

3.       Read “Oh the Thinks you can Think” connecting the content to focus of the computer class.

·         Calculate age of textbook with copyright 1975 -  Math connection:  2007 – 1975

·         Think about “how much water 55 elephants can drink” – Science connection: liquid measured in gallons

·         Bloogs and Computer Blogs

·         “Stairs in the Night” -  Think about if more like a STAR or FLOWER for name card

4.       On index card write name, draw a star or flower, decorate card

5.       Practice following directions by dancing to Wiggles songs “Twist” and “Guitar”

 

OUTPUT / FEEDBACK:

1.       Review terms:  MOUSE, KEYBOARD, BLOG, THINK, ETHICS

2.       Evaluate design card for name, following directions, design details

3.       Introduce them selves and in one word tells what they are thinking about.

 

RESOURCES:

1.       Directions Signs – Are you a STAR or a FLOWER?  What color?  Write first name.  Draw Star or Flower.
