This lesson will allow students to examine the functional unit of life, the cell.


Students should learn:

  • the important organelles of the cell
  • the functions of the structures within the cell
  • the important differences between plant and animal cells



3-4 class periods


This lesson satisfies the scientific concepts of 6.10 and 6.11B in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Science (see Chapter 112.22)
