Welcome to my portfolio online. This portfolio includes a Student Gallery with some of my students' award-winning artwork, a Sample Lesson page with a Maskmaking Unit, a Student Feedback page, and a Teacher Gallery with some of my own artwork.
I received a Bachelor of Art, Fine Arts Teacher Certification Degree in May of 1999 from the University of Houston. I graduated with Magna Cum Laude Honors. I also received honors in my major by participating in the Senior Thesis Honors Program. To enhance my computer skills, I continuously take courses in Computer Graphic Arts and Web Design, maintaining Suma Cum Laude Honors.
My computer skills include PhotoShop 6.0, Illustrator 9.0, PowerPoint 4.0, DreamWeaver 4.0, HTML 4.0, World Wide Web, Microsoft Word for Windows Operating System and software package.
I have developed a Fine Arts Program that includes instruction in the Principles and Elements of Design and color theory, studio art, art history, computer graphics, internships, school-wide and community projects. My lessons aim at teaching the student not only technique and the use of different mediums, but also how different art movements developed and how these can relate to their own lives. My aim is to bring the student into a deeper art experience. In addition, I offer my students the opportunity to give me feedback on my art program by writing a paragraph describing what they learned throughout the year, and what things I can improve for the next school year. Through this feedback, I am able to determine how much my students learned, how much they retained, and how I can change my program to make it better.
