My name is Maria Cristina Galindo. I am currently employed by HISD as a Special Education Teacher's assistant in a program called PPCD (Preschool program for children with disabilities ) at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School.
My hometown is Monterrey, N.L. Mexico, but I lived in many cities throughout the country. I got married and moved to the United States in 1973. I lived for five years in the State of Utah and moved to Houston in 1979. I have been in Houston for the past 17 years with my husband and five children.
I received my title of a kindergarten teacher from La Escuela Normal Particular para Educadoras "Gabriela Mistral" in the city of San Luis Potosi, S.L.P., Mexico. I taught in Mexico for four years before I moved to the United States. I have worked for HISD for the past six years, first as a Title I aide and last year as a Special Education teacher's assistant at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School. I have a total of ten years' experience teaching. I am now in the process of getting my certification as a teacher in the state of Texas.
I love singing; I can sing alto and tenor parts. I sing with church choirs when I can find the time (which is difficult with a two-year-old to look after). Also, oil painting and salt water fishing relax me.
