Hello...I am a computer lab teacher at Horn Academy (K-5) in Bellaire, TX. Besides teaching, I am the webmaster for the school. When I am not teaching, I like to quilt and volunteer at the Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS). I have presented at the Texas Computer Education Association Convention (TCEA) in Austin for the past five years.
I graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.S. in Child Development. Most of my time since then has been spent working with children in some capacity as a volunteer or paid teacher. I spent seven years in Sumatra, Indonesia, where my husband had a job with Caltex. We tried to see as much of Southeast Asia as we could while we were there. Since returning to Bellaire, I have worked at Horn as either a volunteer or teacher.
I have used my quilting skills to make many quilts with the students. I combine all the subjects (math, science, language arts, social studies) in the study of quilts. As a member of the International Quilt Association (IQA) , I received a grant to purchase books with stories about quilts and quilting for the school library. I have also made a quilt for the HMNS auction using pictures from the exhibits to create the quilt.
