Kellie Sims Butler

Ph.D Candidate/Youth Mentor

Political Science

Rice University

I am currently working with Professor Paul Brace on a research project entitled A Comparative Institutional Analysis of Agenda Setting and Redistributive Issues: A View from the Fifty States. I will graduate May 2003. In the Fall 2003, I will join the Department of Political Science at the Pennsylvania State University as an assistant professor.

My research interests include state politics, public policy and agenda setting, and institutions. I am a participant of the TeacherTECH program through a National Science Foundation GK-12 Fellowship. The GK-12 Program allows Rice graduate students and University of Houston undergraduate students to participate as mentors in Math and Science classes in the middle grades (6-8) in the Houston Independent School District.
