Welcome to the homepage of Catherine Paraschos

Let me introduce myself. I am the math skill specialist at Grantham Middle School, in the Aldine Independent School District in Houston, Texas. I am originally from Flint, Michigan. For those of you from Flint, I graduated from Central High School - GO INDIANS! I received my Bachelor's Degree from The University of Michigan and my Master's Degree from Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas. I have taught middle school math for at least twenty years. As all math teachers know, to truly learn a math skill students must practice. Unfortunately, drill and practice are not always enjoyable and fun for the majority of our students. Over the years, I have tried to find things that encourage the students to learn without much pain.

As a student, I used many of the skills learned from the games we played as a child. Moreover, as a teacher I have referred to games to help clarify certain objectives.

Over the years I have found and creating games and activities to help students learn math. Thanks to the program I am currently enrolled in, GirlTECH/Mathematical and Computational Sciences Awareness(MCSA), I have learned how to create this home page and how to place my lessons on the internet for all to share. The first activities in my web site will cover solving simple linear equations with decimals, EQUATION FLASH CARD WAR, EQUATION BINGO.

View my lesson page for additional lessons. If you have any comments please e-mail me.
