# LESSON PAGE

My lessons are designed for grade levels 6th through 8th. They can easily be used with students that have a basic understanding of the skills and may only need reinforcement. Some can be used as teaching tools. I have included small group activities for students that grasp the skill sooner than the remainder of the group. They get to "play" a game, reinforcing what they have been taught, while the others continue to receive instruction from the teacher.

## EQUATIONS

• Addition Equations: Balance Sheet: Solving simple linear equations using manipulatives. (Group work with pairs of 3 - 4)

• Multiplication Equations: Balance Sheet: Solving simple linear equations using manipulatives. (Group work with pairs of 3 - 4)

• Equation Bingo : A basic BINGO game that covers solving simple linear equations involving whole numbers, decimals, and fractional operations. (Whole Group)

• Equation Flash Card War: A game similar to the card game "War" that covers solving simple linear equations involving whole numbers, decimals, and fractional operations. (Pairs)

## METRICS

• Centimeter Race: This is a racing game that involves measuring length in centimeters. It reinforces how to use a ruler. Sounds simple but many middle school students need this skill. (Small Group)

• Metric Measures: You need to be tolerant of noise for this activity. This is a hands-on activity identifying and using metric measurement involving estimation and measurement of length. (Small Group)
