Welcome to Pat Lowers's Home Page

Hello! I am the Technology Coordinator at Louie Welch Middle School in the Houston Independent School District in Houston, Texas. I am a native of West Virginia where I graduated from the University of Charleston with a degree in English and Social Studies. Because I've lived and taught in Houston for the past twenty-nine years, I feel almost as though I'm a native Texan too.

School Philosophy

Prior to becoming Technology Coordinator for my campus, I taught Social Studies as well as English. I have had many challenging and exciting experiences in my new position and spent many hours troubleshooting both computers and printers for my staff. Each summer I attend many workshops in a continuous effort to upgrade my skills. I was drawn to participation in the GirlTECH program by the desire to help the teachers and students on my campus learn to use the computer as a research tool integrated into daily instruction.

Outside the classroom I am an avid reader of mystery titles, especially those of James Lee Burke and Michael Connelly. In addition, I love to sew and always seem to have a quilting or wearable project under way. My most recent project invovled the creation of a quilt for my father, which was constructed by using my printer to generate fabric photos!
