Step 1. Go to Start, Programs, and Click on the PowerPoint button (See arrow at right)

Creating a New Presentation

Step 2. When the new presentation dialog box appears on the

screen, select the Blank presentation option. (See red arrow at right). This will open a presentation with blank slides. Click the OK button.

 

 

 

 

Step 3.Decide which elements you need on your slide. Click on the sample that contains a title, picture and text. The first two slides on the bottom row will work best for this purpose. Click the OK button.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


A new slide with the elements you have chosen will open on the screen.

 


 

At this point you should save your presentation in the folder you normally save your documents- C:\\ drive. You should save your work now before going on to the next lesson - Creating Your Title.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Creating a Title

 

Step 1. To add a title, click on the text box which contains Click to add title.

 


Those words will disappear and a flashing cursor will take their place. You then type the tile you have decided upon as it appears in the sample:

 

 

 

 


You can highlight the text to format it. While the text is highlighted, you may change the font, style and size of text using the text option below the tool bar near the top left of the screen. Click on the font name or size to change these.

 

 

 

 

 


The font color option is found near the bottom of the PowerPoint window and looks like this

 

 


By clicking on the small arrow to the right of the picture, text color options will appear

 

 

 

 

 

 



Make sure you have the title box selected when you click on this button.

You may choose from a number of different effects. See the circle below. Choose one of the effects by clicking on its button.

Choosing Timing 1 will allow you to change how quickly the movement happens

Choosing options at 2 allows you to decide whether the movement will happen by a mouse click or automatically.

Choosing Preview 3 allows you to see the animation in the small screen so you can decide to

You may change the way the text moves, the sounds that are added to the movement, and how quickly the animation happens by clicking on the Custom Animation button. See arrow at right

Choosing Effects 4 lets you change the kind of movement or action will happen. This will allow different movements for text and clipart.

Creating A New Slide

 

Sitting near the top left side of your screen is a small "Common Task" palette. By choosing New Slide, a second slide will be added to your presentation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


The New Slide options box will appear again. Decide which elements you need on your slide, select that type of slide, then click the OK button. A new slide with the elements you have chosen will open on the screen
