# DEFINITIONS

__Denominator:__ A fraction has two numbers - a top number and a bottom number. The denominator is the bottom number.
__Example:__ In the fraction 4/5 the bottom number is the denominator.
Therefore, 5 would be the denominator.

__Improper Fraction:__ A number where the numerator is larger than the denominator.

__ Example:__ 5/3 , 7/4 , 24/5

__Mixed Number:__ The sum of an integer and a fraction.
__ Example:__ 2 3/4 or 5 2/3 Here you are given a whole number plus a fraction.

__Numerator:__ A fraction has two numbers - a top number and a bottom number. The numerator is the top number.
__ Example:__ In the fraction 4/5 the top number is the numerator.
Therefore, 4 would be the numerator.

__Reciprocal:__ Two numbers whose product is one are reciprocals of each other.
__Example:__ The fractions 3/4 and 4/3 are reciprocals because 3/4 * 4/3 = 1

In other words, 4/3 is the reciprocal of 3/4.

Another example would be 6/5 is the reciprocal of 5/6.
